From the actual livelihood of whaling to simple daily activities such as weaving traditional cloth for sarongs or sifting rice for meals, the people of Lamalera always keep an eye on the horizon for the chance of spotting a passing whale. The stories with these pictures came from talks between facilitators and photographers and subsequent conversations that Lamalera elders had with many people in the community about the meaning of the pictures. All pictures were taken by Photovoices volunteer photographers.
